A playful, psychedelic meditation on the ideas of Ludwig Wittgenstein, The Ghost of Wittgenstein transforms philosophy into a kaleidoscope of image, sound and language. Eschewing conventional narrative, Ira Schneider combines rapidly shifting visuals, jazz and a looping conversation to explore the relationship between words, perception and reality. Alongside I'd Rather Be Half Right Than Vice President and Lost in Cudilhy, the film forms The Charlotteruse with the Medal of the Wobbling Bubble in its Palm Trilogy, a trio of experimental works restored in 2017 as part of a 16mm preservation project produced by Claudine Biswas-MacKenzie. The restored trilogy was subsequently presented at the Prada Fondazione in Milan and the Paris Independent Film Festival, celebrating Schneider's pioneering contribution to experimental film and early video art.
