Ah Quan makes a living as a laborer, earning money through physical work. In his spare time, he enjoys gambling, with mixed results—sometimes winning, but mostly losing. As a result, aside from making ends meet, his savings are pitifully small. It wasn't until his elderly father, Ah Dong (played by Peng Yi), began frequently going in and out of the hospital that most of his income had to be spent on his father's medical expenses, prompting him to gradually quit gambling. However, watching his father suffer from illness and dealing with the pressure from his wife, Qiu Rong (played by Huang Jiefei), Ah Quan decided to take a gamble once more, hoping for a turnaround.
