In the middle of the darkness of the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo Eruption, a story of a mother and her two daughters unfold. Agnes, a single mother, loses her youngest daughter Kang-Kang in the chaos of it all. Facing relocation after relocation, Agnes is stuck in a depressive state, while her teenage daughter, Paula navigates through the disaster alone for the both of them.
