After escaping the Holocaust and leaving behind his wife, German-born David Ludwig Bloch emigrated to Shanghai, China. There, he met a new love, Lily, whom he migrated to America with. Decades later, his two children, from two separate families and two separate lives, try to piece together the life of the enigmatic artist, David Bloch.
