During the war between the Khmer Rouge forces and the Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation in 1979, Channdy and his family flee Cambodia along with another thousands of Cambodian people, hoping to find safety in a third country. After seeking refuge in Thailand, they are promised a new journey to freedom but instead, they are taken to the remote Dangrek Mountains, where a terrifying ordeal begins.
