The elderly man knows his days are numbered, his life nothing but the fading glow of the setting sun over the western hills. Resolved to journey to Nangri Monastery to seek his guru and ask about the reincarnation of his late wife, he crosses paths with a young wandering poet. The two set off together. Along the way, their contrasting outlooks on life complement one another, bringing each other liberation and redemption. The old man never gets to meet his guru, yet the wandering poet accompanies him through his final moments.
