Synopsis
"A life turned into a work of art"
“The palace is empty. Fiume is without music.” With these words, in January 1921, Gabriele d’Annunzio bids farewell forever to the “city of life” and begins the final chapter of his existence. He retreats to Gardone Riviera, to the “Vittoriale degli Italiani,” where he will spend the last seventeen years of his life, transforming his home into a work of art and a place destined to preserve his memory. With Adriano Giannini as the narrator, the film takes us into a world-house where every room and every object reflects the personality and obsessions of its creator. The words of the Vate, drawn from his writings and correspondence, intertwine with contributions from scholars and artists, offering new perspectives on his figure and his cultural legacy.
