The action takes place in 1905, perhaps the most tragic year in Russian history. Defeat in the Russo-Japanese War, disbelief in the future, a general decline in morality and integrity; decadence becomes fashionable, as does opium consumption. Terrorists, bombers, revolutionaries, Jewish pogroms, despair hanging in the air… Against this backdrop, the drama of Sonya and her daughters, Tabba and Mikhelina, unfolds.
