A few months after his mother’s funeral a young boy, James, is brought to live with his grandmother Fay in suburban New England. Caught in the clutches of grief James’ father Ian leaves for work in an adjacent town, leaving his son to sort through the school year alone with his grandmother. However, a walk down the mysterious Reverie Rd. soon brings James on a magical journey as he meets state-renowned magician, The Great Sampson who gifts the boy a magical wishing jar.
